Job Summary: The Operations Analyst I position will be supporting the Air Force Technical Applications Center's (AFTAC) Nuclear Forensics branch across several technical projects through the application of experience and knowledge in the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) process, Developmental and Operational Test and Evaluation, data management planning, and data evaluation and modeling for these defense programs. The Operations Analyst will also provide technical writing support with expert knowledge of AFTAC Security classification guidance, AFTAC terminology and mission, and quality control of all developed products. Candidate must be able to manage multiple projects at one time while maintaining quality control of the product development process. Primary responsibility will be to provide analysis of the nuclear forensics program, data, systems, and processes in order to give the government customer actionable recommendations. A working knowledge of the Technical Nuclear Forensics program is considered a benefit. The Operations Analyst will attend technical and programmatic meetings and is required to record and document meeting minutes for actionable items. The candidate will be provided specific mission related tasking and be expected to independently develop the proper approach/solution, recommendations, brief findings to senior leadership, and conduct independent research.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Report to and coordinate with Senior Operations Analyst all findings
  • Identifying innovative and pragmatic solutions to program issues and testing these solutions
  • Collecting and analyzing data and developing models, often using spreadsheets, databases and pragmatic, numerical approaches to solve problems
  • Gathering relevant hard and soft data from systems and personnel at various levels within the organization
  • Interviewing managers and staff
  • Using mathematical programming techniques, including linear programming
  • Using statistical methods and testing hypotheses
  • Feeding in results and helping to implement chosen options
  • Writing  clear, concise reports of findings and creating and delivering presentations to customer leadership
  • Document production using MS Office products
  • Perform document quality control
  • Perform security classification review
  • Attend and record meeting minutes
  • Develop and submit contract deliveries
  • Provide knowledge of Air Force and AFTAC preferred document formatting
  • Provide expertise in document production and quality control
  • Provide knowledge and experience in security classification guidance
  • Manage multiple projects at once with focus on quality and schedule


  • Collect and analyze data

  • Must have command of MS Office products
  • Process management for document configuration management

  • Knowledge and experience with JCIDS
  • Knowledge and experience with current AFTAC projects

  • SharePoint experience
  • Software coding experience (e.g. C, Fortran, Python)
  • Oracle database experience
  • SQL scripting
  • BA/BS + 5-8 years of experience
  • OR: 9-12 years' experience
