Job Summary:  The position is located in Arlington, Virginia supporting the Joint Improvised-Threat Defeat Organization (JIDO) Integrated Signatures Program (ISP). Applicant will be responsible for leading assessments of new and existing systems, performing research for the development of new architectures, and testing tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).  Applicant will be able to determine the cause of failures to prevent future occurrences, and/or to improve the performance of devices, or components.  Position requires applicant to possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Program safety engineer responsible for establishing safety program plans, performing safety hazard analysis using MIL-STD-882D, authoring Safety Assessment Reports (SARs), interfacing with customer subject matter experts (SMEs), preparing presentations/analyses/reports for government safety boards, and developing and documenting program system safety approach for program life cycle.
  • Effectively communicate findings and strategy to internal and/or external stakeholders, including executive leadership in order to define security vulnerabilities, develop requirements, analyze findings, and recommend solutions.
  • Basic understanding of mainstream failure analysis.
  • Provides system planning, implementation, configuration, support and troubleshooting as required.
  • Collaborates with IT, security, engineering and business teams to understand requirements for their systems.
  • Implements solutions and provides technical support as required to meet these requirements.
  • Provides accurate, clear, and concise documentation of system requirements and specifications.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • Required:  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science
  • Desired:  Master of Science degree in Engineering or Science, or equivalent
  • In Lieu of Degree:  4-9 years in an equivalent discipline

Special Requirements:

  • TS/SCI is required
  • System Safety Engineer or Systems Engineer with a concentration in Safety.
  • Desired knowledge of WSESRB (Weapon Systems Explosive Safety Review Board) or MIL-STD-882 (DoD Military Standard for Standard Practice of System Safety)
