Job Summary: The Configuration Manager (CM) function oversees maintaining the policies and procedures to be utilized by military and contractor personnel to ensure a standard and cost-effective approach to the application of configuration and data management requirements.  The CM  will be involved in the change management control and audit and verification functions, ensuring that changes to system baselines are recorded and documented properly.  The individual will establish and implement Functional and Physical Configuration Audits.  The CM will operate configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and auditing.  The CM may develop configuration standards for organizational use, and also may train military and contractor personnel in adherence to configuration management standards and in change implementation.  The CM will also develop and manage a Software Configuration Management program.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and maintain a quality standard Software Configuration Management Program
  • Implement and maintain the policies and procedures of a comprehensive Configuration and Data Management Program, resulting in standardized compliance and use by military and contractor personnel
  • Analyzes authorized configuration changes to ensure impacts upon system baselines are properly documented and recorded
  • Reviews system documentation to ensure data management requirements contain full compliance
  • Assists with programmatic requirements, including review of CM policies and procedures, local change control board proceedings, and training of military and contractor personnel in program policies and procedures
  • Utilize configuration management tools (e.g., Remedy) to support both configuration management and logistics management tasks


  • Obtain and maintain at least a SECRET security clearance (TS/SCI Desired)
  • US citizen
  • Excellent organizational, communication (verbal and oral), and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge and experience working in a Government (especially DoD) environment, with a joint service chain of command
  • Proven technical competencies in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Power oint, Outlook, Access, Visio, and Project)
  • Working knowledge of Government (DoD and Air Force) and industry standards in Configuration Management (MIL-HDBK-61A-, DoD ISP in Configuration Management, and SAE ANSI/EIA 649-B
  • Use discretion and independent judgment.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in a technological environment
  • IT Service Management Certification
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in both hardware and software asset and configuration management
  • Experience with BMC Remedy ITSM 7.6 or similar industry solution
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT business needs and IT industry standard best practices
  • Ability to implement, train, and maintain a change management process
  • Thorough understanding of ITIL, Agile, or Red Hat processes and process development
  • Experience working with distributed computer systems, software, and associated communication networks
  • Experience working with networking principles
  • Experience with general software and hardware products       


  • Required: 4 year Degree in Information Systems  
  • Desired: Masters any Aerospace
  • Yrs in Lieu: 15 years in related area

Special Requirements:

  • Must possess an active SECRET clearance; TS/SCI clearance is desired
  • Must be capable of physically working in an office environment or under field conditions
  • Must be capable of effectively communicating with both customers and supporting staff.
  • Must be capable of, and willing to travel to support execution of a customer program
