Job Summary: The Software Developer (GUI) position provides on-site support to the US Government at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) in Port Canaveral, Florida.  This individual will provide support to the leadership team in development of strategic vision, development of innovative approaches to software architecture. The project entails development of cross-platform GUI applications using C/C++, wxWidgets, and other cross-platform open source libraries.  Some work will also involve extending the capabilities of existing open source cross-platform software and libraries.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Reads and analyzes existing C/C++ and wxWidgets based GUI code
  • Derives, designs and implements new functionally that extends current capabilities of existing software.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical, mathematical, and geographic information systems (GIS) solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with other software and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development of software and hardware systems.
  • Prepares operating user manuals and test plans; Supports formal systems acceptance testing. Ensures software standards are met.
  • The successful candidate should possess strong problem solving skills and be able to work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • He or she will regularly interface with technical leads, customers and other stakeholders. The candidate must also be able to rapidly analyze and understand new tools and technologies, and integrate them into existing products and processes.



  • Demonstrated experience with C/C++ and Python in cross-platform development environments including Windows, Unix/Linux, and
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in developing systems using object oriented development techniques and languages.
  • Comfortable with Windows and Linux/Unix command line and shell scripting
  • Experience with browser-based technologies is a plus
  • Experience with geographic information systems and databases a plus.
  • General software programming skills, software design, debugging, documentation, testing, problem solving, and software requirements capture and analysis experience is required.
  • Able to interact with senior customer personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field of study and at least five years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
